Okay, guess that explains why I can't find it in Inkscape. however I wouldn't expect to see a final version of SVG 2 for quite some time yet. When SVG 2 does get finalised, this experimental code should mean that Inkscape gains this functionality very quickly. As such it's liable to change frequently and there are no guarantees that compatibility will be maintained between releases.
It's planned as an addition to SVG 2, and the experimental implementation is being used, in part, to finalise the syntax that will be used in the standard. Xav wrote:To expand on Brynn's reply: SVG 1.x (Inkscape's native file format) doesn't support gradient meshes.
